In the heart of deep west Texas, a hop, skip and jump from Big Bend Country, is the small little town of Marfa, Texas. With a population of under 2,000 people in the 2010 US Census, this little town is known internationally for its arts scene. There's more than a dozen arts destinations, but the most famous of them all is the Chinati Foundation. I was meandering around this town that sits in the Chihuahuan Desert, when I came across this tableau. I felt as if I had been transported somewhere south of the border, and love the play of colors in relation to each other. Who wouldn't want a nice cold refreshing glass of juice in the middle of a dessert town in a Texas summer?
KC Hulsman is an award-winning Texas artist, whose photographic work has been exhibited from New York to Australia. Main ST. Arts Festival Fort Worth, one of the top 3 juried art festivals in all the U.S., named her an Emerging Artist in 2018. She has received awards from nationally juried art competitions, as well as highly coveted State Fair of Texas prize ribbons. Her work has been invited into juried regional, national, and international shows.
