You have to travel to remote, rural areas to find dark skies like these. Our earth is part of a spiral galaxy, seen here is the galactic center of our Milky Way galaxy rising above the old hospital ruins at Fort Griffin near Albany, Texas. The bright white star to the right of the column of stars is the light from the planet Jupiter.
